Plant Raising Course

Every year, we raise over 60,000 vegetable, fruit and flower plants – all from seed – for our organic, biodynamic certified market garden. In order to have a successful season, raising and nurturing healthy, vital plants is a must.

On this course you will be introduced to all the various techniques we use in our propagation house – whether it be sowing tiny seeds into ‘flats’ to then prick-out, sowing larger seeds into ‘mods’, how we control temperature and light for the best germination and growth, how we pot-on our most precious plants, hardening off, and everything else in-between. The importance of quality seed and seed storage will also be covered.

All participants will leave with hands-on experience of our different plant raising techniques, seedling care, and a plant to take home for the season. There will also be plenty of time to answer any specific questions you may have for your own gardens and growing spaces.

Hot drinks and farm-made cake will be provided!

PLEASE NOTE: This course will be under cover from the elements, however it may be cold or wet underfoot, so please bring warm clothing and suitable footwear.
